Local Laws

While we have to adhere to the overruling laws of the Freedom Isles, there are bylaws applicable to the settlements. These laws don't exist to monopolise, force or reign-supreme over anyone, but to make sure that everyone gets a fair share, that property is fairly treated and everyone can co-exist.

1. The rules of the kingdom apply first, then:

  • No member shall destroy, even if his rights allow him, the property of another member/villager or the settlement.
  • Respect neighbours, visitors, allies and non-ally diplomats of our settlement.
  • Members should only dig/mine/terraform inside their own areas, unless consent was obtained from the mayor. Terraforming has implications for everyone, and mines might have plans that should be adhered to.
  • Miners must adhere to mining warnings. This will prevent dangerous slopes, dropshafts and opening up tunnels in the wrong areas.
  • Picking up, moving objects or leading animals anywhere but on your own area is not allowed. Not everything is locked, and a fair-use policy can be implemented between members/villagers, but not everyone will be willing to do so. Communicate with others.
  • Unless pre-arranged, trees should not be cut. Some areas are restoration projects, while others have intended purposes. This is usually not a strict rule, but communication will, again, go a long way.
  • If you plan to leave us, please hand-over or destroy your buildings. It takes a lot of time for members to clean up after someone. Similarly:
  • If you plan to leave, please move your boat/s away from the deed. Failing to do so, will lead to wasting the kingdom authorities' time in requesting moves.
  • Keep the animal to tile ratio, and number of animals in your area in mind. Prevent diseases and poor conditions for everyone.
  • Keep everyone's life in mind. Don't litter the area with useless objects, use a trash heap. Clean up, repair where possible, use common sense

The mayor/land-owner/proprietor and other members do not want to invade your area, and expect the same from you. You can go to sleep knowing that no one will enter your area (but please keep your keys safe) and tinker around with your property. You should in turn, respect this and do the same for others. Using materials from a bin or supply store that is not yours, means you are trusted to replace those items in storage again.

You can live, sleep and eat as you want, and enjoy your given space. You are free, and a friend. Communicate, and all will be well.
